You can make this in just a few minutes, and it’s oil-free, dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan!
It is not nut-free, as the base is made with cashews. It’s super delicious!
When you buy pesto from the store, it usually has parmesan cheese, oil, artificial flavors, nutritional yeast, and it is usually packed with fats! If you are on a healing diet, those are all things that you want to avoid.
However, that doesn’t mean that you have to avoid pesto! You can just make your own!
This oil-free basil pesto is made with a base of cashews and avocado. The healthiest fats there are! I also used basil, water, garlic, lemon, and a tad of salt.
There’s very little prep work, as you just toss everything into a blender or food processor. Once everything is finely chopped, you can use this oil-free vegan basil pesto to top salads, fresh tomatoes, pasta, or as a dip.

- 3 cups fresh basil
- 1 cup cashews
- 1/2 avocado
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 cloves garlic
- Juice of half a lemon (add more or less to taste preference)
- 1/2 tsp pink salt (optional)
1. Add all ingredients into a blender or food processor.
2. Blend until ingredients are finely chopped.
