Help others heal by sharing!

This post will show you how to make hummus in one easy step – no cooking or chopping!

This amazingly simple hummus recipe is coming to you straight from a gourmet, family-owned delicatessen.

The kind of deli that made everything from scratch.

I mean, fresh bread, pasta, salads, baked goods – everything.

Locally-Influenced, Authentic Hummus Recipe

Grandpa Buck, Rachel’s dad, has been making this easy hummus recipe since the 1980’s when he owned his deli in Danbury, Connecticut.

This authentic, simple hummus recipe with garbanzo beans was strongly influenced by the local Lebanese community.

Its made in traditional Lebanese style, which is thinner than your typical store-bought, packaged hummus. This hummus recipe is made without tahini, so it’s very low-fat.

The Easiest One-Step Hummus

The best part is that this healthy hummus recipe couldn’t be easier to make! The preparation is minimal, and there is only one step – blend until smooth.

You don’t need to chop anything, and you don’t need to cook.

Also, the recipe has been gently modified to make it lower in fat to accommodate detoxification.

Notes

I use canned goods very sparingly, as the lining in cans often contain BPA and the metals can leach into the food. When I do use canned items, I look for an organic brand that clearly labels no BPA or BSA in the liner. It's also super easy to make chickpeas from scratch in the Instant Pot.

Making your own hummus is so much healthier than buying from the store, and this recipe won’t have you in the kitchen all day!

If you would like to cook your own chickpeas, rather than buy the canned chickpeas, here’s a great tutorial on how to make tender chickpeas in your pressure cooker.
